Mom Mom continues to rock out in San Francisco as we have more visitors (and several surprise visitors!!). Including the following fabulous people:

The ever splendid Heena & Barrot

Patrick Mills

The Parents are coming! The parents are coming!

So, on Jan. 5th, John and Patsy Veneziale decided to head out to San Francisco to meet their new grand daughter.  PLUS, Peter and Alannah swung through on their way back up to Washington to add to the merriment!  Fun had by all…

A Hike to Remember Michelle

As the year drew to a close, the Stringham, Catalani, Veneziale crew took a hike in the Marin Headlands to take a moment in remembrance of Michelle Stringham (or Momma Sha).  Baby Jett took her first hike with the family.

We then headed back to SF for a little dim sum and some ice cream.

We even had time to go to Jett’s first movie!

Christmas Time in SF

Here comes Chuck, Lance, Joaquin, Aden, Jessika, Kaya and even Royal for Jett’s first Christmas. Not to mention amazing Christmas gifts (that we waited to open on X-Mas morning) from Aunt Marcia, Zoe Galvez, Brian Liebman and more!

Thank you everyone for all of the gifts and love that you’ve been sending our way!

Baby Jett’s First Road Trip (Los Angeles)

Well, with a call from Andrew Fried it was destined that Jett’s first road trip would be had!!  Caricia and I packed up the little lady and took off in a rental car for Los Angeles so I could direct a pilot with Mr. Fried for AMC.  Here are some of those crazy times and the crazy people that we love in LA (big love to Neil and Monica for providing the baby’s first exclusive LA getaway pad)!

Placenta Broth and Other Adventures!

Well, you never know until you try if you don’t like something, right?  Caricia and I are digging further into the new parent adventures and the first order of pictures include a wonderful Chinese medicine tradition of making anti-depressant pills out of your placenta!  Right?!?!  Then, Jett gets a plethora of visits from friends and family.

WE’VE GOT A NAME!!

Dear friends and family –

Horray!  We are happy to announce that our baby girl has a name!

Baby To Send.jpg

Name: Jettaya Sha Catalani Veneziale
Superpower: Tiger grip
Batting average: .356

To tell you a little bit about our baby girl’s name…

Jettaya (jet-i-ya) is Caricia’s paternal great great grandmother’s name, her Opa’s grandma.  Jett, for short. Jett was a Javanese woman, born around 1850 in Madioen.  She is the only person in the family tree with no last name, and while there are many family theories about why not, this new baby Jettaya has enough last names to go around.  The name Jettaya or Jettayu is a mythical bird in the Hindu pantheon of gods, a sibling of Garuda, who gallantly defended Sita in the sacred text of the Ramayana.

Sha (shaw) is Caricia’s mom, Michelle’s, nickname. Michelle was known as Sha to friends and Mama Sha to her grandchildren, who miss her very much.  Michelle’s tiger spirit is very much a part of this little girl’s personality.  And, of course, the name is also a tribute to our fabulous Doula and dear friend Heena Shah.

Catalani Veneziale, maternal and paternal last names, just like the Spanish do.  Also a part of our Catalan history: everyone gets both the maternal and paternal last name with no need for a hyphen.  And some people even collect all the last names from great great grandparents, etc.  The more last names, the better.  For example Pablo Picasso’s whole name is actually Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso.  So, really, our baby could use some more last names if she is going to do great things, heehee.

In the last few days, baby Jett has also earned some awesome nicknames, which you are also welcome to call her, in addition to your own creations: Peapod, Squacker, FrogLegs, Nani, Noodle, SnuggleBug, PeanutSauce, RotoRooter, Rooter-bega, etc.

Thanks for all of your incredible support, cards, calls, gifts, tweets, pings, likes, thumbs-ups, and thoughts during the first week of baby Jett’s life and our first big week as someone’s parents (whoa).  We are all doing really well and baby Jett is happily gaining weight, breastfeeding, sleeping, and dirtying diapers — living the life of a bawler.

AND NEW PICTURES!

The Goods (baby pics)

In attempting to sort out just how to organize these photos, I’ve gone with the idea that, give the people what they want.  Here are the highlight pictures from the past three days!
